Saxophonist, vocalist and composer Kim Cypher is making waves across the UK jazz scene. With four highly acclaimed albums, award-winning music videos, sellout shows across the UK including repeated sellout performances at world-renowned Ronnie Scott’s jazz club, and a private performance in New York, Kim has firmly secured her reputation as a leading figure in contemporary jazz, renowned for her vivacious style, passion, energy and charisma.
Having studied with British jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard and legendary US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis (James Brown / Van Morrison), Kim was hailed a “true heart and soul performer” by Pee Wee, who features on her 2nd album ‘Love Kim x’ and performed with Kim as part of the ‘Love Kim x’ album tour in 2019.
Firmly rooted in her love and passion for funky saxophone and jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, Kim’s music covers a wide variety of styles including jazz, Latin, swing, reggae and funky grooves. Her all-round ability as a saxophonist, vocalist, composer and band leader, renowned for her lively, entertaining stage presence set Kim apart as a unique performer, described as “a rare musical treasure” by Jazz FM’s David Freeman who has been a big champion of Kim’s music and who compered her ‘Catching Moments’ album launch in 2024.
Kim has performed and recorded with some of the country’s finest jazz musicians. Her 3rd album ‘Catching Moments’, released as part of a vast inspired project called ‘Brighter Tomorrow’ celebrated and paid tribute to all who work in The Arts. The album features original music recorded with some wonderful jazz performers including Liane Carroll, Ray Gelato, Antonio Forcione, Ashley Slater together with an ALL-STAR band.
Having played in a variety of bands semi-professionally alongside a 17-year career as Head of Music in a Gloucestershire primary school, Kim took the brave decision to leave teaching to focus on her own music full-time. At the same time, her husband (drummer) Mike Cypher left his career in banking, having been a Regional Bank Manager for many years. The couple became full-time professional jazz musicians in 2012 and have never looked back…they have also never worked so hard!
Kim’s debut album ‘Make Believe’ was released at the end of 2016, receiving glowing reviews and culminating in a highly successful album tour with sell-out shows across the UK in 2017/18. The album includes many of Kim’s original tracks inspired by an absolute belief in following dreams.

The album tour included sellout shows with special guest Pee Wee Ellis and a sellout charity performance entitled ‘For Mum’ (a tribute to Kim’s late Mum) with special guest Ray Gelato which raised £3,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity
